The fpm (Factor Product München) design company developed the design for the first travel guide especially for business travellers on behalf of the MAIRDUMONT publishing company. Apart from the graphic design, fpm also took over the role of concept provider for the product.

Besides general information on the destination, the MARCO POLO Business Traveler mainly addresses the issues of business travellers. Which restaurants are suitable for business dinners or meetings? Where can I hire a morning suit or video projector? Where can I find a suitable jogging route to workout? The "Speedsightseeing" section offers a compact city tour.

"Whilst establishing the concept, the focus was initially the needs of business travellers. What information do I need when travelling? Here we were able to draw on our own experiences and conducted observations and surveys with users", says Stefan Bogner, Managing Partner at fpm, responsible for Communication Design.

The city guide's style and format is based on the well-known MARCO POLO series. However, the design is more subtle and factual. All content is provided clearly and factually to efficiently inform the user. There is a reason why the classic book format has been kept though: The travel guide will be a tangible and appealing reference book in today's transient digital world.

The MARCO POLO Business Traveler is being published in October 2010 in cooperation with the Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung. The first issue will initially cover the most important German cities Berlin, Hamburg, Munich, Cologne, Frankfurt and Düsseldorf.
